– Suede was formed in 1989 in London.
– Refreshingly different: with their alt-ex rock music, Dark comic lyrics, and an energetic frontman with the right moves, they quickly became underground heroes.
– Talky and Hype started soon round Suede being on Melody Maker’s front cover before they even had a record out.
– Fame came with Animal Nitrate their first single.
– English popmusic has something with androgyny. I dont think that’s style. I think it’s obscuring illusive freedom, purple haziness.
“I am not the Pope. And ‘forgive’ is probably the wrong word. But yes, I have come to terms with the young Brett Anderson. Especially the young Brett Anderson parading about in a woman’s blouse.”
– Better than opening the doors for Britpop was that they ended a serious way of dancing known as
floor inspector aka ‘shoegazing’.
– The band has been compared with The Smiths and Bowie and is in many ways unique even against their own will,
par example:
the band is named ‘the London Suede’ for the American public because of copyright issues in the US.
In 2015 Suede was honoured with the “Godlike Genius Award”.
Who says you can only do great stuff if you’re damaged?
Brett Anderson
With big success and critical acclaim they came together again a few years back.
Listen to The Killing of a Flashboy ➜ HERE
She walks in beauty like the night
Discarding her clothes in the plastic flowers
Pornographic and tragic in black and white
My Marilyn come to my slum for an hour
I’m aching to see my heroine
I’m aching been dying for hours and hours
She walks in the beauty of a magazine
Complicating the boys in the office towers
Rafaella or Della the silent dream
My Marilyn come to my slum for an hour
I’m aching to see my heroine
I’m aching been dying for hours and hours,
Been dying for hours and hours
She walks in beauty like the night
Hypnotizing the silence with her powers
Armageddon is bedding this picture alright
My Marilyn come to slum for an hour
I’m aching to see my heroine
Aching, been dying for hours and hours
I’m 18, I need my heroines
Aching, been dying for hours
Oh and I’m never alone now
Now I’m with her
