{"id":12254,"date":"2017-01-24T17:11:57","date_gmt":"2017-01-24T17:11:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rocksushi.org\/rocksushi\/?p=12254"},"modified":"2017-01-24T17:11:57","modified_gmt":"2017-01-24T17:11:57","slug":"arepas-from-venezuela","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rocksushi.org\/rocksushi\/arepas-from-venezuela\/","title":{"rendered":"<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rocksushi.org\/rocksushi\/funkiesearch?id=206\">  Arepas from venezuela<\/a>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rocksushi.org\/rocksushi\/funkiesearch?id=206\"><br \/>\nArepas from venezuela<br \/>\n206<br \/>\nIngredients<\/p>\n<p>2 cups pre-cooked white corn meal<br \/>\n2 1\/2 cupswarm water<br \/>\n1 teaspoon salt<br \/>\n1 pound ground beef<br \/>\n1\/2 green pepper finely chopped<br \/>\n1 teaspoon paprika<br \/>\nsalt and pepper to taste<br \/>\n1 teaspoon chopped parsley<br \/>\n1 small onion finely chopped<br \/>\n4 cloves garlic finely chopped<br \/>\n2 tablespoons olive Oil<br \/>\n1-2 teaspoons chili flakes<br \/>\n1 teaspoon chili powder<br \/>\nPreheat oven to 350 F. In a bowl combine warm water and salt. Stir to combine. Slowly add the cornmeal. Continue stirring with hand. Knead dough until smooth, soft and pliable.<br \/>\nSTEP 2<br \/>\nForm arepas into discs half an inch in thickness. Transfer arepas to a dry skillet, over medium heat. When a crust has developed, and arepa is slightly golden, flip it over. Cook for an additional 3 minutes. When crusty put them in preheated oven. Cook for 10 &#8211; 15 minutes. Take one arepa and tap. If it sounds hollow it is good! Otherwise, leave arepa for five more minutes. Carefully remove arepas.<br \/>\nSTEP 3<br \/>\nAdd olive oil and chili flakes to a saute pan. Once oil begins to ripple add garlic. When garlic has crisp edges, add onion. As onion becomes translucent add green pepper and ground beef, breaking up the meat as it cooks, with 1 teaspoon salt and 1\/2 teaspoon of pepper. Once the beef has rendered its fat and juices add chili powder, paprika,1 teaspoon fresh chopped parsley .Continue to cook beef mixture until the meat has absorbed the pan juices.<br \/>\nSTEP 4<br \/>\nTaste and add salt and pepper. Carefully cut arepas in half to make a pita. Fill pocket with warm spicy ground beef.Mix in some fresh salad with thin slices of red onion.
