Van Halen

– Two of the band members are Dutch;brothers Alex (on drums) and Eddie (guitar). Since a few years Eddies son Wolfgang replaces Michael Anthony on bass.

– Even the bands logo is world famous (Two capital letters VH)
– Eddies guitar sound became very important to the band because of his technique, awesome rocketsound and crazyfly solos, screaming & sweeping from left to right and blazing from his own custom build guitar.
In my humble opinion you can still hear the ‘attack’, walking and speeded up/bouncing away rhythms of someone who used to play drum solos -which he did as a kid. And, because he is born Dutch the kicking against a ball. Jauauuww!But thats said because Im Dutch 🙂 It would be logic if in his sound you can also hear the saxophoon music of his father Jan van Halen, his own piano study and last but not least his mothers gentle play on the violin with classical forte and crescendo lashes and fast note walks!
– Singer David Lee Roth the flamboyant acrobatic rockstar-singer of the group with his strong voice also is an irreplaceable member -like all- of the group and their sound.

-For guitarists: Eddie plays with a -thin- 0.6 pick.

Whenever it’s about Hard-Rock for me it is about Van halen. I hope Edward and his brother have a lot of little home/studio work on ‘tape’ waiting for us !!

Update:
– I remembered as a young kid reading Eddie was born in Amsterdam. When I made this little article, over 3 years ago, NOWHERE you could read this. ‘My’ whole internet (inc wikipedia) mentioned Nijmegen. Only now that -unbelievable- Eddie has passed away, I can read Amsterdam with a newspaper prooving this with a birth-certificate. That’s why I didn’t mention a city of birth. I walked with doubts (innocent ones) for over three years but I turned out to be right. Information…
– Maybe a Van Halen street in Amsterdam and or Nijmegen? Change Van Galen str into Van halen street?

*On this day in 1978, Sept 23rd, a new rockband stole the show at the huge outdoor Summerfest rockconcert of 56,000 at California’s Anaheim Stadium..

For the third act (Van Halen) the speaker declared:
“From out of the sky, Van Halen is coming into the stadium!”
Moments later,Van Halen rushed onstage to a thunderous ovation.
They take off their parachute suits and launched their song On Fire.

It is one of those myths that it weren’t the guys from Van Halen themselves. Obviously, it was Van Halen.
