I immediately want to say something about MindYou! (coming website) but I don’t..
– Talking Heads (no ‘the’) is a band from New York
-They pioneered, added to and helped shaping the ‘New Wave sound’ (80’s)- a mix of artrock, softpunk, new styles, synth, and
alternative mainroad with an underlying gloomy message covered for those who sought recognition and music presented in a style in contrast with the ’empty-headed’ la-la-la disco mainstream.
-Talking Heads’ debut was the album ‘Talking Heads:77’.
-They made their early albums with producer Brian Eno.
-Most members come from an Art and Design academy and Jerry Harrison(guitar, keyboards) is an architect.
-Name: Talking Heads were an influencial band. Artists like the RHCP played their songs and they were used in movies
like ‘The Truman Show’ with Jim Carrey.
-The video caused rumour and sensation when it was exhibited at the New York Museum of Modern Art.
-Once in a lifetime is a song from the (4th) album: ‘Remain In Light’.
-Radiohead got their name from a Talking Heads’ song.
They were previously called ‘On A Friday’
-The repeated staccato bass is played like it breaths and snores (sleeps) throughout the song
Yes, the Choreography: ..Toni Basil (female choreographer & singer of a song named “Hey Mickey!”
fills in some details about the choreography for this video: “He [Byrne] wanted to research movement,
but he wanted to research movement more as an actor, not as a trained dancer. He wanted to research people in trances,
different trances in church” (…)
-We will -converse- about this song on Mindyou, like we will discus another song from T.Heads named
‘we know where we are going, but we don’t have the faintest friggin idea where we’ve bin..
The initiated ‘backwards’ jump can álso be seen as part of an ‘obey doctrine’. At least one Hollywood movie used it this way.
This idiot appeal to someone is a psychological construct in which the test of obedience in fact is nothing but a way to shrink a persons ego.
Sects and other bad environments love these kind of intimidating reins over your vulnerability.It’s ironic to say the least that jumping a salto with your hands cross your knees makes you look like your own brain.
The brain also infact looks like a boxing glove.
-Most of the words in ‘Once in a Lifetime’ come from (tv) evangelists David recorded off the radio while taking notes and picking up phrases he thought were interesting directions.
-This is a great and important song. Surprisingly Once ‘in a lifetime’ did not right away enter the popcharts. Some radio stations did not play it.
