'Back to the old house' is a Smiths song I know for a long time.
I went to see my old place again the other day..
I knew it had been a Portuguese restaurant more recently. In my time, yéars ago, it was a cosy small restaurant with a big German (speaking) cook.
Entering the house from the backside along the stairs you would always pick up the great smell of steakes and fries.
I shared the house with two friends -If you happen to read this drop me a line, let me know you're doing fine!- a guy and a girl from Suriname. She was my girlfriend, my great love :) Our first initials, from the three of us were all M and I. That's funny because behind us was the WTCenter (International Monetair) and directly next to us the inland shipping library (International Maritime). The buildings are both on the photo slide.
..I was happy. I felt great in my soul environment! I hope they're happy and doing well. One worked at an engineers office, wich came with a remarkable coincidence, (my father formers office) and the other one studied economics. For me a lotta things are only just starting.
It's about the only house that is shut-off from both front as backside. I decided to take some pictures..
Back then, when I lived there, already underbelly and remarkable things were present ..I didn't give it a single thought. It's the same theme throughout my families life here, Delft or Amsterdam, anywhere. A mix of weird emptyness and concealment. I don't want to say more.
Contrary to what the lyrics (of the Smiths'song 'back to the old house') may say, I really look back to that period in a happy, warm and good feel.
Now for me it's time for coffee and some toast!
Who'd bought that toaster anyway that stood on the kitchen shelf?
PS: Funny is that only now I know that the name of that canal in the last photo is -Delftse Vaart- knowing that I lived in Delft. I also came to live next to the first AH supermarket of our country.
I have a kind Turkish neighbour and she has the same kind of voice as my girlfriend at the time! I say this because I like cooking and in Dutch-Turkish, many misunderstandings can arise in translation of words on the topic of cooking so im happy I haven't given any reason for some upset and smoke coming from my kitchen. Remarkable.
The hugh slider, a long bended stánding gallery but without the usual pillars on the church's square wasn't there at the time.
It was given to the church by the rotary ( think they also helped with kidsgames in Lage Vuursche) and it's suppose to be a podium. Are you kidding? Who's going to put a banana peel across the whole width of a church square parallel to a canal for a fuckin podium. The idea for the symbolic 'sculpture' dates back from 2009 and got realised in 2014. Remarkable cause these dates mark personally unique and important moments to me. By then, I was starting to develop notion and knowledge about the troubles around my family and our society and my immediate future was ( and ís) very uncertain. Was I ever about to see that thing which seems to devide ,but even more, pretty much reflects the polarisation (ups and downs..) between the 'real' world (WTC ánd our home back then) and our beliefs (Church)?
maybe the last photo is now the most important of the series.
In the street nameplate 'delftse vaart' is the name elft. the Elft (Alosa Alosa) is a haring and haring is partly the name of the street I came to live in next.
I repeat that my life and that of my family to my very surprise turned out to be one big arranged and controlled Zersetzung, a mess. Even the location of the house is totally fixed. All in all this is remarkableness no 2739. I have very much to find out about my fam and what is going on. I even will have to go back in time, to mid 19th century- at least.
Much more about that ánd these photos hopefully on the next website.
Elf by the way is an abbr. for extreme low frequency (within an electro-magnetic field) but that's again a new book full.
-I uploaded
another photo for personal interest.( not a single dot of the graffity or text stuff is my work)
The whole place is gone now. I could ask "where are we now" but like I said, I still have to get the train.
..Around me: "red herring is 'a patsy' ". Yea.. and Cheyenne.
"I would love to go
Back to the old house
But I never will
I never will
I never will".
